The project is part of the ASAE’s social legacy strategy ‘Community Connection, which aims to engage attendees and give something back to the host city and its citizens.
The ASAE worked closely with the Dallas CVB to identify the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) non-profit organisation.
During the conference, delegates sorted and boxed donated goods for the NTFB’s Food 4 Kids backpack program, which helps provide participating schools with nutritious and kid-friendly food designed to fill a backpack and feed a child over the weekend during the school year.
Events such as a 5k fun run, golf and tennis competitions and sightseeing tours were also held to raise money for the chosen charity.
ASAE President John Graham said: "Our community donated time and money towards this effort, and I’m proud that we were able to help more than 12,000 children in the Dallas area.
"I asked our community to help us reach our goal [of £30,000] and explained how it would have a lasting impact with the city and children’s lives, and association professionals, companies, organisations responded by opening up their pockets."
The 2012 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition took place at Dallas Convention Center, Texas.
